POSITION Lead the maintenance and engineering function for a
growing USDA/FDA food manufacturing company. -In this role, you
will be responsible for the Maintenance, Engineering and
Environmental Compliance programs.Improve Maintenance performance
by developing a high performing team of technicians. -Leverage the
use of our new computerized maintenance management system driving
the preventive maintenance and work order process.Engineering
responsibilities will direct and oversee capital and process
improvement projects. Ensure Environmental compliance with
wastewater treatment management, storm water programs and required
governmental reporting. -PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESMaintenance --- -
- - - - - - -Improve the effectiveness of the maintenance function
driving solutions to equipment downtime and increasing OEE. --- - -
- - - - - -Line Performance / Continuous Improvement Team support.
-Partner with the Operations teams to support plant objectives in
terms of line performance improvement and waste reduction. -Utilize
computerized Manufacturing Execution System (MES). --- - - - - - -
- -Inspects and advises on all areas of the plant for equipment
design, evaluation and troubleshooting. --- - - - - - - -
-Proactively champion technical issues and see them through to
completion. --- - - - - - - - -Improve use of new computerized
maintenance management system (CMMS), preventive maintenance
programs and work order execution. -Drive improvements to the
company's preventive maintenance program. --- - - - - - - - -Assess
training gaps in the skill matrix and develop plans to address.
-Ensure 100% compliance on monthly training topics. --- - - - - - -
- -Implement 5S in the maintenance shop and support the program
throughout the facility. --- - - - - - - - -Maintain the LOTO
program with annual audits to ensure compliance. -Manage our LOTO
program contractor to ensure the program is kept current and all
procedures and placards are intact. --- - - - - - - - -Maintain
building systems including Fire, HVAC, air compressors, boilers,
cooler and freezer systems. -Ensure compliance with all Fire Safety
codes and permits. --- - - - - - - - -Manage buildings and grounds
maintenance (Landscaping contractors). --- - - - - - - - -Establish
maintenance KPIs to set a performance baseline and set goals and
objectives for department improvements.Engineering --- - - - - - -
- -Lead the development, implementation, and coordination of the
capital budget for the company to drive cost savings projects,
improve and maintain equipment and facilities. --- - - - - - - -
-Project development including concept, design, layouts, cost
estimates, cost justification; research and selection of the best
equipment. -Submit projects with timelines, contingencies and
paybacks. --- - - - - - - - -Manage and ensure compliance with all
city construction permit requirements. --- - - - - - - - -Total
project ownership and management including periodic updates to all
stakeholders, project installation/commissioning, cost control,
project performance and project closing. --- - - - - - - -
-Monitors contractors to ensure compliance with all company
standards including sanitation, safety, quality, productivity and
budget. -Ensure compliance with all required permits. --- - - - - -
- - -Develop layout options and designs for all capital and
maintenance projects, including layouts of components, assemblies
and system installation drawings. --- - - - - - - - -Employ
creativity in developing multiple solutions to layouts and
technical solutions while minimizing capital costs. -Utilize a core
principle of Continuous Improvement: "use your craftiness not your
cash" --- - - - - - - - -Actively seek out new technologies that
provide a competitive advantage to the company. --- - - - - - - -
-Edit, revise and update changes to existing drawings and maintain
current versions of plant CAD drawings. -Manage central drawing
file location to ensure versions are current and accessible. --- -
- - - - - - -Ensures Engineering Standards are up to date with all
design specs. -Provide detailed illustrations in the design
standards. -Establish clean design standards and ensure compliance
with all installations. --- - - - - - - - -Effectively interface
with other individuals or groups including engineers, shop
technicians, construction personnel and contractors. --- - - - - -
- - -Seek out company and customer's needs and prioritize own work
accordingly.Environmental --- - - - - - - - -Ensure 100% compliance
with all government reporting requirements and permits.o - -Ensure
compliance with SCAQMD reporting and emissions. -Conduct annual
source testing and report compliance to SCAQMD.o - -Manage
Wastewater Treatment process and all regulatory reporting as
required by the city. -Maintain and update slug prevention plan.
-Mandatory updates submitted to the city every two years.o - -Storm
Water compliance and all regulatory reporting as required by the
city.o - -Hazardous material programs, reporting in the California
Environmental Reporting System (CERS)o - -California Air Resource
Board (CARB) compliance and reporting - -SKILLS REQUIRED --- - - -
- - - - -Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. --- - - - - - -
- -A minimum of 10 years of food manufacturing experience (USDA
preferred) including but not limited to maintenance management,
packaging and process engineering and equipment design.
-Familiarity with sanitary food design standards, general machine
practices and the ability to prepare clear technical data for
proposals, procedures and capital project requests. --- - - - - - -
- -Strong project management skills. --- - - - - - - -
-Demonstrated experience with Lean/CI tools and 5S programs. --- -
- - - - - - -Demonstrated experience implementing progressive
maintenance practices including TPM/autonomous and predictive and
maintenance. --- - - - - - - - -Experience operating Computerized
Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). --- - - - - - - - -Knowledge
in PLC programming is preferred. --- - - - - - - - -Demonstrated
troubleshooting, problem solving, analytical skills. --- - - - - -
- - -Proficient in current versions of AutoCAD and MS Project
preferred. --- - - - - - - - -Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and
Outlook. --- - - - - - - - -Ability to read and interpret
blueprints, Process PFD and PID, and electrical schematic drawings.
--- - - - - - - - -Strong written and verbal communication skills.
