InternProcess Engineer Intern - Power & Utilities
DepartmentLocation: Ontario, CaliforniaNew-Indy Ontario, LLC is
currently seeking applicants for the position of Process Engineer
Intern - Power and Utilities Department at the paper mill located
in Ontario, CA. Individual must be in the process of pursuing
higher education in the chemical, paper sciences, or environmental
field of study. This is a non-exempt position.With oversight of the
Environmental Manager helpsto coordinate and assist with
environmental compliance to include hazardous waste activities,
hazardous materials inventories, storm water pollution, and air
monitoring. Assists with meeting safety and production requirements
at the Ontario Mill to include project management, specification
research, failure analysis and documentation; assists
Technical/Continuous Improvement Manager in maximizing quality,
production at the lowest possible cost. Flexible schedule based on
class schedule.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for general
Regulatory compliance, Create and update environmental procedures
as needed, must have the ability to interpret regulations and
communicate them.General visual inspection of grounds and / or
facility with reporting of corrective actions and follow-ups per
environmental ManagerBecome knowledgeable in and assist
Environmental Department with Monthly NOx Reporting, Monthly WWT
Reporting, Monthly HAPS reporting Coordinating Quarterly Title V &
RECLAIM reporting, Quarterly SMR Reporting, TRI Reporting, an
Annual Emission Reporting. Assist Environmental Team with annual
ACC-500, semi-annual 500 SAM, Storm water Reporting, Hazardous
materials inspectionsAssist with MSDS (SDS) tracking, Spill
Controls and Counter Measures Plan. Must have computer knowledge,
Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook.Must have strong communication
skills as there is on-going communications with management,
operators, inspectors, and governing agencies: SCAQMD, LA SANS, San
Bernardino County, City of Ontario, IEUA, EPA.Complete safety
observation cards. Promote safety procedures and standards in the
mill.Interface with Department Managers, Shift Supervisors, and
Shift Operators under the direction of the Production Manager to
develop projects to improve the mill process towards increased
production, improved quality, improved reliability, and reduced
costs.Required to become knowledgeable in the area of liner and
medium paper making industry trends and provide recommendations and
input implement improvements as appropriate.Ability to manage
multiple projects as assigned simultaneously.Assists Technical
Department in gathering and analyzing data used in continuous
improvement efforts.Works with technicians in identifying key
issues that need to be addressed per Production Manager
guidanceQUALIFICATIONS:Currently enrolled in chemical engineering
degree programStrong technical background desiredStrong written and
verbal skillsDevelopmental: Knowledge of processes, wet end
chemistry, paper testing procedures, and Root Failure Cause
analysis (RFCA) related to quality or process failuresParticipate
with all departments in continuous improvement of the mill.To
perform this job successfully, an individual should also be able to
navigate through various Manufacturing software platforms.Ability
to be part of a multi-functional/multi-skill maintenance
organization
