Summary: As a member of the Goderich Mine Management Team, the Senior HRBP wil be required to have deep insight into the operation in order to seamlessly apply their capabilities across Human Resources and to add value to the business. This position, in collaboration with the Vice President - Human Resources, balances driving consistent and flawless execution of HR processes with strategically building organizational capability and culture to increase the overall employee experience. Through the management and development of the Goderich Mine HR staff, this position designs and drives support initiatives and associated implementation activities in order to achieve business results and sustainable growth. In partnership with the appropriate HR Centers of Excellence (COE), this position identifies and drives integrated local talent management, employee development, compensation, performance management, and organizational transformation strategies. The role will also play a key role in the employee and labor relations strategy at Goderich Mine, providing guidance to the HR team and management for all local collective bargaining activities to include; grievance management, contract negotiation, CBA interpretation and training, and most importantly building trust and overall positive union relations. Essential Job Functions: Include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.) * Drive the development and implementation of strategy supporting collaborative union relations, including productive union/management communications, grievance processing/tracking, collective bargaining preparation and training, contract interpretation, and supervisor training. * Consult with mine management team to develop appropriate mid-term workforce planning. * Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies. * Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. * Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. * Coordinate in the design of HR policies. * Coordinate in the development of HR people processes. * Works closely with leadership teams and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase engagement, productivity and retention. * Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation. * Provide guidance and input on local restructures, workforce planning, succession planning. * Identify training needs for applicable functions and individual coaching needs. * Participate in development, implementation, facilitation, evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met. * Participate in, and contribute to, weekly local leadership team meetings. * Provide direction, instruction, and guidance to HR team, in alignment with the goals of the Compass HR business strategy, continually assessing team strengths, weaknesses and motivations, providing constructive feedback and training for development and growth. * Lead special projects, ensuring appropriate change management is in place for successful implementation. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: * Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent work experience required. * Master s Degree, or CHRP designation preferred or the equivalent of Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution and/or Advanced Mediation and Workplace Conflict Coaching Certification and/or training is an asset * 10-15 years of progressive Human Resources, Training, & Labor Relations experience required. * 7-10 years experience leading a Human Resources team required. * 5-7 years experience in union environment with hands-on full cycle C experience required. * Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity and inclusion, training and development, performance management, and respective employment laws. * Relevant mining industry experience strongly preferred. * Excellent consulting skills. * Excellent client management and business literacy skills. * Strong conflict management skills. * Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results. * Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues. * Manage multiple conflicting priorities. * Ability to understand issues and communicate effectively with clients. * Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels. * Be self-directed and motivated. * Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
