* Flexible Schedules *JOB DESCRIPTION: * A Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care and assessment to long-term and rehabilitation residents. A Registered Nurse may supervise duties performed by LPNs and CNAs in a team care setting under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, and Director of Nursing. Provide direct care and treatment to long-term and rehabilitation residents. Initiates and administers Intravenous treatments. Communicates with the Nursing team and medical team as appropriate. Reviews and evaluate the resident care plan. Transcribes Physician orders, maintains competency in all site-specific tasks required by the facility, and may assist in orientating new staff. *RESPONSIBILITIES: ** Work closely with RN Supervisor to ensure the best possible functions of the assigned unit
* Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
* Prepares and administers, and records prescribed medications
* Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
* Assesses the patient's ability to do routine daily tasks.
* Recognizes and manages geriatric syndromes common to older adults, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, hematological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, neurological, psychiatric/psychosocial, integumentary, sensory, and pain problems.
* Prepares equipment and aids physicians during the examination and treatment of the patient.
* Communicate with family members regarding patient
* Records all care information concisely, accurately, and promptly in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
* Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting. *REQUIREMENTS: ** Degree from an accredited school of nursing
* Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York requires
* Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred
* Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
* Strong customer service skills and compassion
* Basic computer knowledge, PCC e-MAR experience preferred
* Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
