management systems, and location-aware applications.. Key Tasks &
Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Through daily management
ensures that the Manufacturing and Logistics facility is operating
efficiently, safely, and properly to provide quality, timely,
consistent and superior service to Acuity Brands' customers.
Overall responsibility for the strategic and tactical leadership
and management of a multiple shift high volume Manufacturing and
Distribution Center. This includes but is not limited to the
continuous improvement of safety performance, assembly operations,
warehouse operations, inventory management, customer service
delivery, budgeting and cost control, building maintenance and
personnel development. --- Set overall strategy for Distribution
Center; develop and implement specific short- and long-term plans
and programs in order to support the operational goals and annual
growth plans. Oversee the development and implementation of
strategies, including but not limited to: performance metrics;
technology, systems, equipment and facilities; logistics planning
and output; policies & procedures; organizational development,
workforce planning and training efforts.
--- Responsible for the P&L of Distribution Center location;
oversee the development of annual budgets to ensure facilities
execute to minimize expenses. Review performance metrics against
operating plans and standards; provide reports to direct reports on
interpretation of results and provide direction to address issues.
Diagnose operational issues and assist Managers in the development
of solutions, action plans and communication to resolve issues.
--- Lead and facilitate change management in support of
organizational goals and an emphasis on continuous improvement.
--- Continually assess adequacy of facilities, equipment and
personnel to meet corporate goals and projected growth, and make
timely recommendations to upgrade, improve, modify or expand
resources, as necessary, to maintain operational excellence.
--- Make maximum use of technology, including warehousing and
product flow systems, to improve or enhance productivity throughout
the Distribution and Quality Assurance departments.
--- Continually evaluate warehouse scheduling and determine optimum
balance that will achieve desired level of customer service at
lowest overall cost.
--- Develop productivity standards for Distribution Center
functions and use to evaluate individual performance, identify
training needs, improve overall operations, and budget for labor
requirements.
--- Monitor productivity performance plans for the Shipping and
Receiving departments, develop productivity guidelines and ensure
goals are being hit.
--- Review monitor and report on product issues as it relates to
"returns" from the delivery teams; determine why product is being
returned and communicate any issues to the appropriate department
heads.
--- Review and monitor cycle counts and inventories within the
Distribution Center.
--- Ensure timely review of reports and hold accountable the
timeliness of the reports and accuracy of the material.
--- Meet with and develop short and long-term objectives for the DC
management teams; monitor progress or gaps in performance and
develop action plans to re-direct performance, as applicable.
Professional Qualifications --- LEAN Management Focus- Capable of
driving standard work and process into operation. Utilizing Kanban
and visual management tools. Focused on continuous improvement.
--- Experience driving performance improvements, creating a culture
of change within a large, complex and global organization.
--- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop employees at
all levels; build high impact cross functional teams, and improve
site leadership capabilities.
--- Outstanding communication skills, ability to effectively
present information in response to questions and concerns from
employees, managers, clients, and customers.
--- Tactical and strategic thinking to set direction for a
motivated and empowered staff.
--- Strong and consistent sense of anticipation, urgency, creative
problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Promotes Best
Practices environment
--- High level understanding of systems (Oracle, LIDS). Personal
Computer skills, database, Excel, Access, spreadsheets. Material
Handling Equipment, racking, and other warehouse infrastructure
requirements.
--- Experience with implementing Warehouse Management Systems
Experience (minimum experience required) --- Bachelor's Degree
required, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain or related
discipline; Master's Degree preferred
--- 6-8 years proven working experience in logistics, warehouse
and/ or distribution field; with leadership role experience
--- Demonstrated use of continuous improvement methodologies
utilizing 5S, Lean, Kanban and visual management tools.
--- Asian sourced goods experience beneficial.
--- Union experience beneficial
--- Experience in developing metrics and KPI's
--- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organization
skills
--- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
