Inforce Management is recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Director, Financial Analysis & Reporting for our team. - The successful candidate will gain great insight into Manulife's business, across geographies, business lines and functions.Inforce Management is a key area of focus for Manulife and directly supports the organization's Portfolio Optimization strategic priority. Focused on optimizing inforce insurance and annuity businesses, the Global Inforce Management team works with business units across Canada, US and Asia to improve returns and cash generation while reducing risk. A Global Inforce Ambition has been set with a target to generate a cumulative $1B in net income by 2023, then generate $400M in net income annually from 2024 onward.The Director, Financial Analysis & Reporting will join a small and empowered team to drive this priority forward and be accountable for business performance reporting, the financial planning process and analysis on a variety of special projects impacting the in-force businesses globally.General Accountability:Reporting to the AVP, Strategy, Global Inforce Management, the incumbent will work with leaders and subject matter experts across businesses, functions and geographies to contribute to the development and implementation of the Global Inforce Management strategy.This role will have accountability in the following areas for Global Inforce Management:Business performance reporting and analysisFinancial and strategic analysis for special projectsEnterprise-level financial and non-financial planningResponsibilitiesBusiness Performance Reporting - Develop and produce a consolidated business review package for senior management to provide a holistic view and performance tracking of our inforce blocks on earnings, policyholder's experience, expenses, remittances and reinsuranceCollaborate and develop partnerships with key stakeholders from Group Functions (Finance, Capital Management, Local Capital, Actuarial, Reinsurance & Expense), Segment Finance and Inforce Management teams to ensure effective and "one source of the truth" communication to CEO and Executive Leadership Team, the Board of Directors and external stakeholdersConsolidation and review of results from segments and Functions. Accountable for monthly and quarterly KPI report and performance measurement process to monitor our progress against our targets. Provide thorough analysis of our key financial indicators (KPIs), including trends, headwinds, tailwinds, and key driversLead process improvement initiatives, work with stakeholders to streamline processes and drive efficienciesFinancial analysis - provide value-add analysis for senior management strategic decision making and to support inforce management strategic initiatives and projects. -Work closely with key subject matter experts at different levels and areas globally to produce analysis, develop solutions, and present results and recommendations to senior managementAnnual Business & Financial Planning - Collaborate with Segment planning teams and Group Functions to ensure alignment and deliver the financial plan for Inforce Management at the global levelInforce management strategy - develop materials, establish key performance indicators, and provide analysis to contribute to the evolution of the Global Inforce Management strategy Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:University business degree and/or recognized accounting designation (CPA)Strong finance background with 10+ years of increasing responsibility in financial management, reporting and analysis Experience working with senior management teams (stakeholder management requiring persuasion / influencing skills)Experience within Insurance or Financial ServicesExperience developing C-suite and Board level presentationsStrong analytical skills. - Ability to assimilate/summarize/apply/present a large amount of information from multiple sources in a value-added form for senior management with the ability to use judgment to assess reasonability of analysisGood project management skillsStrong oral/written communication skills required to interact with senior management and representatives from other segments and functional departmentsWork collaboratively with stakeholders to complete projects/priorities consistent with expectations and with a high degree of qualityComfortable taking accountability for complex tasks/projects/analysis with limited supervisionThe following experience / knowledge would be a strong asset to this position:Relevant work experience in business and financial planning and expense managementExperience and exposure on actuarial concepts and insurance product knowledgeKnowledge of IFRS17, LICAT and RBC capitalEvery career at Manulife/John Hancock provides the opportunity to learn new skills and move your career forward.
