Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Community Engagement and Environmental Manager to join our Program Management team. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of twelve years' experience with a background in environmental and industry work experience in the construction industry. Experience in mass transit systems is preferred. This is a key position requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team to successfully deliver a major capital transportation project located in downtown Toronto. Your Key Responsibilities * Management of all community and environmental roles and tasks * Work with Project Leadership to define the approach in working and collaborating with various stakeholders, including private or public agencies * Take a leadership role and actively engage all stakeholders that may potentially impact community and environmental activities * Organize and facilitate community and environmental support activities, such as public communication, as may be required legally or in support of the project * Collaborate with the project team to anticipate and collaborate on mitigation activities to address potential community and environmental risks and issues * Provide input to other project functional areas including scheduling, risk management and others to assist in the timely completion of various project work activities * Actively participate as a member of the project team on other related project activities as required * Prepare required reports and provide project updates Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials * Experience working with provincial (Ontario) and federal environmental regulatory agencies (Transport Canada and Health Canada) and knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal regulatory requirements * Excellent leadership skills to act as a role model, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal skills * Experience with large capital infrastructure projects, preferably in mass transit systems * Technical knowledge related to community and environmental practices * Familiarity with construction practice * Ability to understand project status and engage with project team members and related stakeholders * Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present status updates related to community and environmental project activities * Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Knowledge of applicable standards and procedures * Ability to make timely decisions * Positive approach with strong relationship-building skills Education and Experience * Degree in Environmental or Geological Sciences or Engineering, or a similar field of study * Minimum twelve (12) years of environmental or other related work experience in the construction industry * Related designation(s) preferred This description is not a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.
