With work that challenges and makes a difference, within a flexible and supportive environment, we can help our customers achieve their dreams and aspirations.Job DescriptionManager, Business Insights and Analytics, Individual insuranceThis unique leadership role is key to the success of Individual Insurance in Canada, by providing the intelligence and analysis needed for sales, product and the Insurance Leadership Team to make data-driven-decisions. Reporting to the Head of Product Strategy and Support, the Manager, Business Insights and Analytics (BIA) will be responsible for leading a team of data and business analysts that have a passion for data and excellence in delivery of effective insights and tools for our stakeholders. The incumbent is responsible for developing or delegating reports and analytics designed to provide insight or predictions used in decision making processes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales and product teams while overseeing the enhancement and optimization of the sales Customer Relationship Management platform (CRM).The role will work closely with the Insurance sales and product leaders, as well as the Insurance Leadership Team (ILT) and other partners to develop and enhance business intelligence tools and analytic models.The incumbent must have a passion for leading analysts in the pursuit of insight and trends by leveraging data and presenting these insights with the appropriate visualization. He/she will present data and insights to the management team/sales representatives to assess how sales tactics are being executed and to what degree those tactics are gaining traction (success). He/she will also work with the sales, product and ILT to analyze process opportunities using data, building analytical models and reports.Key Accountabilities1. Leadership --- 30%Maintain a high-level of staff performance by attracting, training, developing, coaching and motivating staff members, along with the management of talent through the organization.Create a culture eager for change and continuous improvement.Foster an environment that continually seeks and implements opportunities to improve the customer experience, increase efficiencies, and develop an exceptional experience through digitization or automation.Create an environment of trust and collaboration across teams and functions while demonstrating the Manulife values and coaching team members to do the same.Superior strength as BIA lead on large-sized/complex projects directing, coordinating staff and activities.2. Continuous Improvement --- 20%Liaising with business stakeholders including ILT to set Service Level Agreements, requirements and enhancement projects thereby creating and maintaining a roadmap of intelligence and analytics.Work with partners to implement changes within CRM, Business Intelligence tools and Data Mart to ensure accurate and complete data.Continuously learn new BI tools and techniques such as visualizations and querying best practices and trends.Representing the BIA team on project/initiatives and various user groups as a SME in reporting and analytics.Continuous review of the external and internal productivity model to determine alignment with business strategy and bring forward recommendations for enhancements.Make recommendations for improvements in effectively gathering, tracking and reporting this information. Work with teams to execute recommendations.3. Provide in-depth analysis of data used for strategy and sales initiatives --- 20%Provide in-depth analysis and commentary by querying and joining multiple datasets to collect information for major initiatives on the sales and activity for Individual Insurance such as:Trend analysisPredictionsAdvisor/broker and channel resultsCycle time and application workflowsProduct mixLiaise with stakeholders and partners to translate issues and opportunities into analytical modelsThis role will need to recognize and extract relevant information required for analysis and reporting.Reviews the productivity model to determine alignment with business strategy, makes recommendations for enhancements.4. Develops and generates Retail sales reporting --- 30%Design, automate and distribute effective and concise management and senior management reporting for Individual Insurance.Partnering with stakeholders and partners to translate issues and opportunities into value-added reportsReports will be used for the following purposes:Strategic planning and goal settingTactical decisionsCompensation and recognitionSales tactic, contest and promotion effectivenessAdditional functions include building executing and maintaining databases and spreadsheets.Transfer knowledge to the sales team and other departments through coaching/consulting.
